Lefkas is the second largest isle in the northern Ionian and it is only an island due to it being seperated from the mainland by the Lefkas canal originallly built by the Corinthians.

Lefkas has a wealth of beautiful beaches to choose from, most of which are on the dramatic west coast. Cypress-lined hills tumble down to an iridescent blue sea where small, individual stretches of golden sands line the island’s shore.

To the east of Lefkas lie the islands of Skorpidhi, Skorpios and Meganisi. Skorpios and Skorpidhi are owned by the Onassis family, originally bought by the late Aristotle for use as a retreat. Meganisi is a gentle, quiet island where peace can be found in abundance; a perfect isle to explore on foot. Unspoilt by the modern world, the island’s tiny main village, Spartakhori, is reached by a steep climb from the tiny port, which is run by brothers Babi and Panos. Sail from Spartakhori early in the morning across a glass calm sea as the sun rises over the mountains of the mainland. Relax on deck with a cup of coffee and a fresh croissant – simply idyllic!

Further south and east are the islands of Kalamos, Kastos, Arkoudhi and Atoko, all of which offer unspoilt scenery and relative seclusion. There are many bays that are perfect for a swim or for a sheltered overnight stay under a star studded sky.
